An Undeveloped Sound

For An Undeveloped Sound, I was tasked with developing a cohesive visual identity across multiple mediums. The design needed to reflect the play's themes—language as a force of development and destruction, the tension between certainty and uncertainty, and the struggle to articulate the inexpressible.

Designing for the Unspeakable
For An Undeveloped Sound, I was tasked with developing a cohesive visual identity across multiple mediums. The design needed to reflect the play's themes—language as a force of development and destruction, the tension between certainty and uncertainty, and the struggle to articulate the inexpressible.
Custom Wordmark
I began by creating a custom word mark that captures the play's exploratory and enigmatic tone. The typography suggests a sense of construction—letters forming and reforming, mirroring the play's themes of development and linguistic experimentation.

Blueprint-Inspired Background
To complement this, I designed a background graphic resembling a blueprint—an abstract nod to both the literal idea of development and the metaphorical framework of language itself. This graphic became a unifying visual element across promotional materials, reinforcing the show's aesthetic and thematic core.

Multi-Platform Cohesion
Using production photography, I crafted posters and digital ads that balance intrigue and clarity. The imagery conveys the play's sense of mystery and transformation, while the layout and typography ensure readability across print and digital formats. The social media assets maintained consistency with the campaign while being adapted for platform-specific engagement.
For the slide deck, I ensured that the visual language remained strong while allowing the content to shine, supporting Electric Company Theatre's promotional and fundraising efforts.
